Valley Stream man arrested for assault

The Fifth Squad reports the arrest of a Valley Stream man for an Assault that occurred on Monday, July 22, 2024 at 12:30 am in Valley Stream. 

According to Detectives, Officers responded to J & F Jimenez Deli located at 240 Rockaway Avenue for a disturbance. Upon police arrival, a female victim, 31, stated while attempting to break up a fight the Defendant Jose Velasquez, 38, of 27 W Hawthorne Avenue brandish a knife resulting in the victim sustaining a laceration to her left hand. The defendant was placed under arrest without incident. The victim refused medical attention. No other injuries were reported. 

Defendant Jose Velasquez is charged with Assault 2nd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree. He will be arraigned on Monday, July 22, 2024 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
