Updtate New York State police investigate fatal crash in wayne county

On Friday, July 11, 2025, at approximately 4:05 p.m., the New York State Police responded to a fatal motor vehicle crash involving a motorcycle and a dump truck on Parker Road in the town of Marion, Wayne County.

The preliminary investigation determined that a motorcycle was traveling southbound on Parker Road when it struck a dump truck stopped in the southbound lane. The operator of the motorcycle, 45-year-old, Daniel R. Roland, of Newark, NY, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The dump truck operator, James A. Suhr, 60, of Marion, NY, remained on the scene and cooperated fully with the investigation. Standard Field Sobriety Tests and a Preliminary Breath Test were administered, and no signs of impairment were observed.

The New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit (CVEU) responded to assist with the investigation, and the Wayne County Coroner responded to the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
