Update on the shooting incident in Nassau County

The NCPD reported the details of the shooting incident in Rockville Centre on Saturday. This is in Nassau County. Around 5pm, police reported a dispute inside a home on Old Mill Court involving a father and his two sons along with another man and woman.

This is when the father, Kevin Cooper, 56, accidentally discharged the gun shooting himself in the stomach. The gun was in the waistband when the dispute occurred.

At the same time, one of the sons, Kevin Cooper, Jr, 34 allegedly pointed the same gun to a woman and later assaulted her. The other son, Devon Cooper, 27 then ran after the man who left the house from the gunshot. This is when Devon fired two shots toward the man running outside. 

The father and two sons were arrested for weapon possession, reckless endangerment and assault charges. EMS transported the woman to a local hospital.

The investigation continues.
