Update on the Douglaston fatality by the sanitation center

The NYC Dept of Sanitation confirmed the death of Richard Errico, 54, after officials stated it was a single vehicle accident involving the garbage truck. Errico was on duty during the incident.

The incident occurred around 6pm on Winchester Blvd by the underpass of the Grand Central Parkway near the Alley Pond Park.

Additional details were not provided due to ongoing investigation by the NYPD Collission Unit.

2014 was the last time an on duty sanitation worker was killed.
