Update on the Bayside scam involving a senior

Police reported the suspect from the surveillance picture contacted a male, 79, living in Bayside in the Clearview Expressway and 39th Avenue vicinity stating the grandson is in jail and needs bail money. The incident was reported on May 28. The victim gave $9,000 to the suspect pretending to be a bail bondsman after he came knocking on the door. Afterward the victim spoke to the grandson and found out he was scammed. Ongoing investigation.
