UPDATED State Police are investigating a fatal collision on interstate 87 in the Town of Catskill

On December 11, 2024, at approximately 3:58 a.m., New York State Police responded to a one car motor vehicle collision on Interstate 87, known as the New York State Thruway, by exit 21 in the town of Catskill.

 The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2014 Subaru was traveling south bound on Interstate 87 in the town of Catskill, when the vehicle left the roadway for unknown reasons and subsequently struck the median.  The operator identified as Sara Llorens, age 26, of Burlington, Vermont, exited the vehicle before it became engulfed in flames.  Llorens was found on the north bound shoulder of Interstate 87 deceased.  This collision is being investigated as a hit and run.

The investigation is ongoing.
