Two separate fatalities on Long Island

Last night around 1:45am, a female, 77, was struck by a tractor trailer on Long Island. This is on Sunrise Highway by Exit 55. The female was walking on the side of the highway when the incident occurred. The driver remained on the scene and continued to cooperate with the police. It's not known why the female was walking on the highway late at night due to an ongoing investigation.

Around 3am, a single vehicle accident resulted in a fatality in Brightwaters. This is on Union Blvd near Johnson Lane also in Suffolk County. EMS transported the driver, male, 24, to a local hospital where he was pronounced.

Both incidents are under investigation.
