Two separate fatalities in Corona and Astoria

Around 12:30am, the NYPD were called to Roosevelt Avenue and Junction Blvd in Corona reporting a dispute turned into stabbing. Police say it was over an accusation of a stolen bike between two males. EMS transported the male to a local hospital and later died. Police apprehended the suspect and charges are pending.

Around 6:30am, the NYPD reported a police involved shooting in Astoria. This is in the vicinity of 31st Street and 30th Avenue where neighbors called 911 seeing a male acting erratically with a weapon. The NYPD worked a long time to convince the male to drop the weapon before he advanced to one of the officers and they were forced to fire. The NYPD Chief of Department John Chell quoted, "They were forced to defend themselves."

Police worked with EMS and transported the male to a local hospital where he died of injuries.

Neighbors have been complaining for a while of the same male for disorderly conduct.

Both incidents remain under investigation.
