Two people arrested for fraud and bribery involving grants at Columbia University

Melanie Willians-Bethea, 47 of Springfield Gardens and Annice Kpana, 35 of Valley Stream were arrested by feds after investigation involving a $350,000 kickback scam with grant money at Columbia University. Two others were also charged and they were residents of South Carolina. Williams-Bethea was employed as the aid director when the grants were approved to three people including Kpana. University officials reported accounting irregularities to authorities and the investigation started last year.
