Two officers injured during the arrest of a man for shoplifting at Walmart

Police were called to Walmart on Old Country Road on Monday, October 23 around 3pm reporting a man wanted for shoplifting. When police arrived, they caught up with the alleged suspect, Clifford Gavin, 46 of Queens. After brief struggle, Gavin was taken into custody and both officers suffered minor injuries. Gavin was charged with assault, grand larceny and disorderly conduct.
