Two little girls died after drowning accident on Long Island

According to SCPD, on Saturday afternoon, a 4-year-old girl and her 2-year-old sister drowned in a pond behind the Long Island apartment complex where they lived.

At 3:16 p.m., a family member frantically called 911 to report the young girls missing from an apartment in the Fairfield Townhouses in Holtsville.

When officers arrived, they joined the mother and her neighbors in their search for the children. About four minutes later, the girls were pulled unresponsive from the development’s pond, which is located on the premises.

The Brookhaven Town Supervisor said that 911 dispatchers instructed the callers on how to perform CPR, but it was too late.

EMS transported the toddlers to Stony Brook University Hospital by ambulance, where they were pronounced dead.
