Town of Hempstead will raise the sale of cigarettes to 21 from 18

The town of Hempstead Board voted in favor of raising the age to 21 to buy cigarettes and tobacco products tonight. This includes Bellerose and Floral Park south side. Businesses will now get the new legal documents once the bill is signed into legislature. The bill, NYS Public Health Law 1399 will go in effect when the date is announced soon. Stores violating the law will receive $1,500 fine or lose license to sell cigarettes. Reported 9pm.
