Throttle powered bikes banned in Nassau County

Nassau County became the first in NY to ban throttle powered bikes and scooters effective immediately. Although NY already legalized many forms of e-bikes in 2020, Nassau County officials say older county laws allow police to confiscate certain bikes, mainly the throttle powered models including ATV. Under Nassau County officials after a slew of complaints, the move is about safety due to reckless riding, speeding involving children especially in local parks and pedestrians. Also no golf carts in public beaches.

Now the Democratic part time elected officials are demanding to overturn the ban and let all ride with fines for violations. The move came after Eisenhower Park reported the most reckless incidents.

Already north Nassau residents are pleased with the decision after witnessing e-bikes being taken away from local teens who were reckless at local parks.
