The next housing court method in NYC

Ok, we have landlord tenant courts, OATH that handles housing violations and now comes the newly created Office of Deed Theft Prevention. The newly appointed Peter White will oversee the agency that will monitor scams and other illegal activities targeting victims of deed thefts. White is a former housing attorney with experience in handling homeowner issues.

Once a deed theft takes place, call 311 and an official from the Office of Deed Theft Prevention will come and inspect the issue. Then the investigation will start.

The NYC government will then decide based on a review with all the details in place. In the meantime, homeowners are advised to safeguard by all means on their property documents to protect it well since the NYC government does not offer guarantees.

Moreover, if you are a senior, now it’s the time to stop deed thefts before the government gets involved with the likelihood of losing your home with loopholes.
