Suspect wanted for shooting a cat twice causing paralysis in Nassau County

This is from the Glen Cove police, On June 1st at 8:30pm a woman heard an animal crying in pain outside of her home on Taft Place in Glen Cove. The crying turned out to be from a small cat that was in her neighbors yard. The small cat was dragging its hind quarters and was unable to walk. The woman immediately notified her neighbor who was a veterinarian. The neighbor brought the cat to her practice and discovered that the cat was paralyzed and suffered two gunshot wounds. The cats owners were notified of the injury after the veterinarian discovered that the cat was chipped with the owners information. The cat is named Gracie and is 5 years old. The cats owners state that Gracie is very friendly to everyone in the neighborhood. In fact, the cat would amuse the neighbors when it would follow her owners whenever they took their dog out for a walk. The Glen Cove Police have requested the communities help in identifying the person who could be so cruel to shoot a defenseless animal. Xrays taken during Gracies emergency veterinarian visit show two bullets, one in Gracies spine, and the other located in her abdomen. Gracie was most likely shot on June 1st between the hours of 7pm and 7:20 pm. The shooting most likely took place on Taft Place or Sherwood Road in Glen Cove. Tips can be called in anonymously to the Glen Cove Police at 516-676-1002, online at tips@glencovepd.org or on the Glen Cove Police Department Facebook page. Gracies owners have agreed to pay a mounting vet bill to try to keep Gracie alive. The owners are hoping that Gracie will survive the operation and will be able to walk again.
