Suspect wanted for beating woman in front of her son in Ozone Park

Police reported a 35 year old woman was robbed while walking her son from school. It happened on October 1 around 2pm on 84th Street near Atlantic Avenue in Ozone Park. The suspect grabbed the victim's purse and then beat her to unconscious in front of her 4 year old son. People hearing the woman's scream rushed to her aid and chased the suspect but escaped. The woman was taken to Jamaica Hospital and in stable condition. Police described the suspect as male, black, 40 to 50, 5'8 to 5'9" and 150lbs. Ongoing investigation.

Update - as of 3:30pm today, the suspect was arrested.
