Suspect in custody after the rape incident in Ridgewood

The local police precinct in Ridgewood reported a suspect is in custody after the rape incident which occurred on May 9 around 9am. The incident was reported in the vicinity of Seneca Avenue and George Street. Police say the arrest was made on the same day after the 24 year old female victim cooperated with the police. The accused defendant identified as Jeferson Tipantuna, 25 was taken into custody and charged with slew of charges from rape, criminal possession of weapon, unlawful imprisonment, menacing and assault. The next court date is May 14 after bail was set at $25,000 which has not been posted and represented by The Legal Aid Society.

The investigation continues.
