Suspect arrested for mugging an 84 year old senior in Woodside

Police reported the arrest of Angel Cruz, 46 and charged with robbery, assault and is held on bail at $25,000 remains in Rikers Island. The incident involving an 84 year old male who was a retired MTA worker was heading to 8am service at a local church when the suspect came from behind. This is on 160th Street and 43rd Avenue on August 2nd. The victim, Oliver Neligan resisted and both went down on the sidewalk. The victim managed to pull the suspect's face mask and police were able to match the DNA found in crime database. Police located the suspect on September 15 and gave the news to the victim who suffered injuries while hospitalized.
