Suffolk officers help deliver baby girl

It was quite the morning for two First Precinct officers who helped an Amityville woman deliver a baby in her home.

Less than an hour into their shift, at 7:42 a.m., Officers Michael Stroehlein and Diego Montero responded to a Greybarn Lane home after a 911 caller reported a woman in labor. When officers arrived, they found the woman, Stefanie Andrade, in labor in the bathroom of her apartment. The officers assisted the 33-year-old woman deliver a baby girl and used a shoelace to tie off the umbilical cord until EMTs arrived.

The mother and baby, Callie, were transported to a local hospital in good condition.

Great job Officers Stroehlein and Montero and welcome to the world little Callie
