State police arrest Amsterdam man following traffic stop

On December 1, 2024, State Police of Fonda arrested Elisandro Auffant, 32, of Amsterdam, NY, for two counts of Criminal Possession of Controlled Substances in the fifth degree, two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the seventh degree, two counts Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the second degree, Obstructing Governmental Administration in the second degree, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the fourth degree.

On December 1, 2024, at about 9:40 p.m., Troopers stopped a vehicle on Chapman Drive in Amsterdam, NY, for a Vehicle and Traffic Law violation. Auffant was identified as a passenger in the vehicle and found to possess multiple controlled substances, felony-weight narcotics, drug paraphernalia, and an imitation handgun.

Auffant was arrested and transported to SP Fonda for processing. He was then arraigned at the Amsterdam Town Court and transported to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility in lieu of $10,000 cash, $20,000 bond, or a $200,000 partially secured bond.
