State Police investigate stabbing incident in town of Claverack

On March 26, 2025, at about 3:30 a.m., New York State Police responded to reports of a stabbing near 354 Route 217 in Claverack. Upon arrival, Troopers, along with Columbia County Sheriff's deputies, discovered four men with stab wounds. Victims James R. Coxon, 35, Kyjuan Hotaling, 21, Oziahj Stroman, 19, all of Hudson, and William M. Metz, 35, of Claverack, were transported to Albany Medical Center for treatment. Law enforcement wants to assure residents that there is no ongoing threat to public safety linked to this incident.

This is an active and ongoing investigation.
