State Police arrest poughkeepsie woman following fraud investigation in East Fishkill

The New York State Police in Wappinger announced the arrest of Shakeema L. Winters, 38, of Poughkeepsie, New York, for Grand Larceny in the Third Degree, a class D felony, and Criminal Impersonation in the Second Degree, a class A misdemeanor.

The investigation began in May 2026, after a private business in the town of East Fishkill received multiple complaints from customers who reported they had paid for services, but their payments had not been received by the business.

Further investigation revealed that Winters, an employee of the business, collected the payments through her personal account rather than the business’s authorized payment system. Winters allegedly received more than $4,000 from multiple victims.
