State Police arrest Fonda woman for larceny following an investigation of more than USD50 000 misappropriated funds from nonprofit organization

On May 5, 2026, State Police of Fonda, with the assistance of the New York State Comptroller’s Office, arrested Nicole S. Weigel, 44, of Fonda, NY, for Grand Larceny 2nd, a class “C” felony.

In October 2025, Troopers received a complaint from a nonprofit organization focused on empowering young women, based in Otsego County. The investigation determined that Weigel had been employed by the organization from March 2023 until October 2025 as a Council Director, managing the financial aspects. While employed, Weigel allegedly mismanaged the funds for her personal gain, resulting in the theft of more than $50,000.

Weigel was arrested and processed at SP Fonda. She was then transported to the Otsego County Centralized Arraignment Part Court where she was released on her own recognizance.
