Standing is coming for pedal alternative in NYC

The NYC Dept of Transportation released a 38 long long long pages highlighting the e-scooter pilot program in the East Bronx.

Currently, e-scooters are legal for private owners but no rentals are available until the bill is passed in the NYS Assembly and then the Governor signs it to make it law. The NYS Senate already passed the bill on restrictions. The lead to win the race is the usual companies, Lyft and Uber. The bill is pending for now due to congestion pricing status in Manhattan.

Back when the program launched in August 2021, the agency stated more than 1.4 million rides were measured with a meter. Best one, no fatalities but few serious injuries.

The Mayor's Office will decide the next course of action to add this plan for bike lanes as an alternative to pedaling based on the companies that are lobbying to get the contracts.

It's going to happen for sure but be patient since locations are under review with which companies for advantage and rules and regulations.
