Stabbing involving St John s students reported in Fresh Meadows

Police reported one person was stabbed in Fresh Meadows. The incident happened on 73rd Avenue and 172 Street around midnight. This was reported off campus where the students of St. John's were residing. The suspect is a lacrosse team captain identified as Matthew Stockfeder, 21.

The victim also a roommate was a St. John's alum complained of loud noise after he came from work. The 23 year old victim confronted Stockfeder of the music being loud after coming home from work.

Stockfeder left the residence to go to another house and texted the victim of taunt. The victim left to meet Stockfeder. An argument erupted into fight after confrontation leading to stabbing.

The victim was taken to a local hospital after being brought by friends who was at the residence and is in stable condition.

Stockfeder turned himself to the police and charged with assault, weapon possession and other charges.
