South Colton male arrested for endangering the welfare of a child and unlawful imprisonment 2nd

On July 25, 2025, members of the New York State Police arrested Christopher J. Potter, age 40, from South Colton, NY, on charges of endangering the welfare of a child and unlawful imprisonment in the second degree.

At approximately 12:53 p.m. on the same day, troopers responded to E. Hill Road in Colton for a welfare check on a child. During the investigation, it was determined that Potter had left the residence to go to work. Before leaving, he had placed a metal chain around the child's right ankle and attached it to a nearby bedpost as a form of punishment.
