Six story with apartments in Kew Garden Hills approved

The lot on Vleigh Place between 77th Road and 78th Ave has been approved for a 6 story apartment building with retail space and community halls in Kew Garden Hills. On Christmas Eve back in 2016, the entire lot was burned down due to a raging fire that was marked as a 5th alarm by FDNY. 14 small businesses were lost. After the 8 story building was rejected, the City Planning Commission approved for 6 story with 90 apartments reserving 30 for affordable housing as part of the property tax break. Of 83,500 square feet, 35,000 will be reserved for commercial and community space. Underground parking will hold 125 vehicles. Construction is expected to start soon.
