Shot fired and suspect in custody in East Meadow

Third Squad Detectives report the arrest of an East Meadow man for Criminal Possession of a Weapon that occurred on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at 4:40 pm in East Meadow. According to detectives, a male, 59, had an argument with his wife, 59, which started to escalate before he went to his bedroom alone. A short time later, a loud bang was heard by other residents in the house and 911 was notified. Upon police arrival, it was determined that a gun was discharged. There were no injuries. Officers observed and recovered two (2) handguns and four (4) rifles. Thomas Ritterbusch, 59, of East Meadow was arrested without incident. Defendant Ritterbusch is charged with two (2) counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, Criminal Use of a Firearm 2nd Degree and two (2) counts of Criminal Possession of a Firearm. He will be arraigned when medically practical. (Info from Nassau County police)
