Shooting investigation near the airport in Queens

Around 1:45am, police reported a suspect on a moped with a gun targeting victims to rob. Earlier the night, police reported multiple victims were robbed in Flushing and Elmhurst and had a matching description and noticed the moped was going the wrong way.

This is when the patrol vehicle with sirens activated and the suspect refused to cooperate. Shortly, the suspect fired from his gun toward the officers and the officers returned fire according to the NYPD Commissioner. This is by 82nd Street and 23rd Avenue in Elmhurst.

Then the suspect was eventually caught as more officers joined the scene. The suspect is a migrant from Venezuela who crossed the open border down south Texas and transported to NYC staying at the Marriott Hotel with all the luxuries taxpayers paid for.

EMS transported the suspect and two officers who were all shot to local hospitals.

Charges are pending.
