Sheriff to check random vehicles for COVID 19 entering NYC

NYC mayor announced random testing for COVID-19 at check points of major bridges and tunnels entering the city effective immediately. The mayor stated, "We?ll educate travelers on the state?s mandatory 14 day quarantine and help them follow the rules safely."
At the same time, the mayor did not answer about vehicle checks for warrants or etc. The random testing is based on 35 stated with highest infection rate. Also, the Mayor?s Public Engagement Unit will begin outreach at Penn Station to educate travelers about New York State home-quarantine orders. Travelers coming in from these states must complete travel health forms to support contact tracing efforts.
The mayor stated 1/5 of the positive cases are from out of state and the city made over 85,000 calls to travelers visiting NYC.
