Sex shop murder Queens man charged with fatally beating man during argument in Chelsea

For allegedly beating a guy to death in a brawl that started Sunday night in a Chelsea sex store, police have apprehended and charged a savage.

The killing occurred at about 9 p.m. inside Rainbow Station, an adult entertainment store at 203 8th Ave. that sells magazines, lingerie, fetish products, and other items, according to police sources.

According to a preliminary inquiry, police discovered that the 60-year-old victim and 25-year-old Imani McColley of Queens had a heated debate inside the shop that quickly escalated into a physical altercation and spilled outside.

According to police, once on the street, McColley reportedly forced his victim to the ground and repeatedly stepped on his head. He subsequently escaped the scene with the victim's wallet.

In the interim, cops from the 10th Precinct and paramedics hurried to the location after receiving a 911 call reporting an ongoing assault. There, they discovered the 60-year-old guy had been seriously assaulted.

He was hurried to Bellevue Hospital by EMS, but he couldn't be saved and was declared dead. Lawrence Parente of Pennsylvania has been identified as the perpetrator by law enforcement.

According to law enforcement sources, McColley went back to the place that night, and an eyewitness called the police, who arrested him.

He was charged with murder and two counts of robbery. McColley's previous address was a homeless shelter in Jamaica, Queens.

According to police, this isn't the first time McColley has been arrested for assaulting someone in that neighborhood. He was taken into custody in September 2025 one block from the murder scene after getting into a verbal altercation during which he hit a victim, leaving them with pain and swelling. Sources say he has at least five arrests on his record.
