Search warrant results in an Oneonta man charged with multiple felonies

On March 26, 2025, New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigations at Oneonta with the assistance of the Troop C Computer Crimes Unit and the Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce arrested Dustin R. Hummel, age 40 of Oneonta, NY for possessing child pornography, possessing suspected illegal illicit substances and weapons related charges. 

During the execution of a search warrant on March 26, 2025, Hummel was found to be in possession of images consistent with child sexual exploitation.  Hummel was also found to be possession of suspected illegal illicit substances, a defaced firearm and high-capacity magazines that are not New York State SAFE Act Compliant. 

Hummel has been charged with the following crimes:

Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the second degree, class “A” felony

Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the third degree, class “B” felony

Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third degree (defaced weapon), class “D” felony

Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third degree (large capacity ammunition feeding device), class “D” felony

Criminal Possession of a Firearm, class “E” felony

Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child, class “E” felony

Hummel was processed and transported to the Otsego County Correctional Facility and remanded on no bail.
