Sea Cliff man arrested for assault on an officer and unlawful fleeing while resisting arrest and multiple vehicle traffic infractions

The NCPD reports the arrest of a Sea Cliff man for an Assault that occurred on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at 10:45 a.m. in Glenwood Landing.

According to Detectives, Officers observed a Toyota RAV 4 speeding in the vicinity of Prospect Avenue and Little Worth Lane. Officers attempted to conduct a Vehicle and Traffic Law stop, but the vehicle sped away as Officers were approaching. A short time later the vehicle stopped near the intersection of Shore Road and Glenwood Road. As Officers approached, the operator of the vehicle, defendant Milton Viana, 49, of Sea Cliff exited and attempted to flee the scene on foot. One Officer sustained injuries during the course of the arrest as the defendant was violent and combative while resisting arrest. The Officer was transported to a local area hospital for treatment.

Defendant Viana is charged with Assault 2nd Degree, Unlawful Fleeing 3rd Degree, Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd Degree, Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree, Reckless Driving, Resisting Arrest and multiple Vehicle Traffic Infractions. He will be arraigned on Friday, October 4, 2024 at First District Court, 99 Main Street in Hempstead.
