Saturday night was a mayhem in Jamaica

Around 10pm on Saturday night, local residents called police of heavy ATV groups cruising on Merrick Blvd. Police vehicles were able to narrow down several riders before Liberty Avenue in Jamaica. One of the police officers followed two ATV riders to the inside streets of 105th Avenue and 171st Street. When the cops got out of the vehicle, one of the ATVs took off striking the officer and then two civilians on the road.

EMS transported the officer and two civilians to local hospitals.

Police have taken the stopped ATV rider and passenger to the local precinct.

The officer has been discharged.

The investigation continues.
