Robbery suspect shot dead in Kew Gardens

A male, 65 year old shot and killed a suspect armed with a knife who attempted to rob him in Kew Gardens according to police.

The incident was reported last night around 2am on Queens Blvd and 82nd Avenue near the courthouse.

According to police, the man was approached by a suspect, 32, male, who displayed a knife and allegedly demanded money and cigarettes from him. This is when the man pulled out a gun and shot the suspect. Then called 911 and waited for the police. The suspect, who is a career criminal with over 20 arrests died at the hospital.

The man is cooperating with the police.
