Revenge porn ban is now a law in NY

Governor Cuomo signed the bill on Tuesday that criminalizes revenge porn. The bill will allow courts to authorize to remove intimate images of people posted online or mobile phones without their permission. The bill, "noncensensual pornography" was introduced by Ed Braunstein, Assemblymember of Bayside. This is the first for victim seeking injunction in the court. The violation of this new law is Class A misdemeanor punishable up to one year or 3 years probation and amends the civil rights law to let victims sue for damages. For lawsuits, a victim can file within 3 years as statue of limitation in NYS.
