Another victory is for the first dreamer, Catalina Cruz who won the primary over Aria Espinal for the Assembly seat in Jackson Heights. The biggest surprise is former head of Independent Democratic Conference Jeffrey D. Klein is way below to newcomer Alessandra Biaggi for the District 34 State Senate seat. Of 6 former IDC, 4 lost the primary where Jose Peralta was knocked out by newcomer Jessica Ramos for District 13 in Corona. Ramos's mother crossed the border when she was 24 and she voted for her daughter. Diane Savino, former IDC won the primary for District 23
