Queens politicians are adding notes from Mexico City ruling

On Friday, Mexico City voted in favor by 38-0 with 8 abstentions o decriminalize sex work. So far the only outline is women and their clients can be arrested or fined if neighbors complained. Local politicians, think tank and non-profit groups in Jackson Heights, Corona, Elmhurst and its vicinity are taking notes while preparing to draft a legislature. The primary objective is to fight human trafficking but many members of NYC Council are skeptic due to violence and crime involved in the field. A legal frame work to protect sex workers is a priority and still in the early stage. Back in March, there was a debate on the topic with inputs from local candidates running for Queens DA's office with the election coming on June 25.
