Queens man taken into custody upstate after pursuit

The NYPD reported a stolen vehicle out of Staten Island heading upstate and the suspect is a wanted felon accused of felony crimes in Queens. The incident was reported this morning during the pursuit.

NYS Troopers from State Police Troop T attempted to stop a stolen vehicle, which then crashed and caught fire at NYS Thruway milepost 49, north of Exit 16. Ali, who was driving the vehicle, ran from the scene into a wooded area. Multiple police agencies are now involved in the search.

By 12:35pm this afternoon, Ali had been located in the confines of Woodbury, Orange County upstate region and was taken into custody.

The investigation is ongoing and more information will be released once it's available.

The NYSP released the report with the pictures before the apprehension.
