Queens man arrested for grand larceny in Garden City

The Garden City Police Department reports the arrest of a Queens man for a Grand Larceny that occurred on July 18, 2024 at 4:20 pm in Garden City.

According to detectives, a male entered into Gross Jewelers located at 840 Franklin Avenue and requested to look at multiple Rolex Watches.  While the salesman was showing the merchandise with the display drawer open, the subject distracted him as he removed a Rolex Platinum 40MM D-D watch valued at $66,750 dollars.  The subject placed the watch in his pocket and eventually left the store without paying for the merchandise.

A thorough investigation was conducted and Costica Alexandru, 27, of Queens Village was arrested without incident.  Alexandru was in possession of three (3) forged licenses.

Defendant Alexandru is charged with Grand Larceny 2nd Degree and three (3) counts of Possession of a Forged Instrument.  He will be arraigned on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at First District Court, Hempstead.
