Queens and Brooklyn getting the ouch heading to the auction block

As of today, 33 Rite Aid leases will head to the auction block in July and most are based in Queens and Brooklyn.

Rite Aid after filing for Chapter 11 protection from creditors will handle the sale of it's locations which are 1,194 leases nationwide up for bid. Another 50 properties Rite Aid owns will also be on the auction block along with six distribution centers and one data center.

According to A&G Real Estate Partners, the firm marketing the leases, "Rite Aid, a 60-year-old pharmacy chain, will cease to exist after it sells or rejects its remaining leases, though a buyer could acquire the right to its name to run stores under that banner."

Around 1100 locations identified will be closed by the end of this month including all 178 in NY.

By the end of June, there will be no more Rite Aid in NY.
