Quality of Life division is working well in NYC says Commissioner

The NYPD Commissioner held a press meet today announcing the Quality of Life division is working well in NYC handling tasks on a daily basis around the clock. As of today since its expansion, more than 7,500 complaints have been resolved and continue to expand citywide.

However, the Commissioner or the Mayor have not disclosed if those complaints include recidivists.

More details were not released on the data despite asking questions but there were plenty of speculations budgets are rerouted to new social service agencies to handle more programs than jails.

One incident this morning around 9:30am when a suspect pushed way inside the court entrance in lower Manhattan where two court officers were slashed and another injured.

The court officers were working at the metal detector line when all went for cover while others managed to grab the suspect and placed in cuffs. The suspect had 18 priors with 3 open cases.

The NYS Court Officers Association released this statement,

"Within just a couple of days of launching a widespread advocacy campaign making the public aware of the severe safety deficiencies in our courts, OCA was in Brooklyn draining more personnel resources, while in Manhattan Criminal Court, two Court Officers were stabbed with one officer sustaining serious wounds to his face and neck. What will it take for court leaders to take the appropriate action to secure these facilities? Our members aren't safe and neither is the public. The time to act is now!"
