Port Authority cop arrested for scamming vehicle owners at LaGuardia Airport

The Port Authority Police reported the arrest of Jeffrey McCabe, 48 of Suffolk County and charged with grand larceny and other charges. Reported McCabe allegedly scammed his employers at LaGuardia Airport. After 17 years, he was reassigned at the impound lot in the airport on June 25 where vehicles are towed for illegal parking. Between April 2016 and 2018, customers who mailed money orders to retrieve their vehicles reported missing and investigation started. More than $70,000 has gone missing and Queens DA's office reported the allegations that McCabe pocketed to himself. The DA's office also reported the money orders sent by people were not required to pay. In the airport, there is no charge if the vehicle is stored less than 24 hours. If convicted, McCabe faces between five and 15 years in prison.
