Poland man charged after a bad check investigation

On June 22, 2026, the New York State Police charged John E. Cornmire, age 32, of Poland, with Grand Larceny in the Third Degree and Issuing a Bad Check.

On May 4, 2026, at approximately 2:55 p.m., State Police responded to State Route 9 in the town of Champlain for a report of a bad check. An investigation determined that Cornmire issued the victim a check in the amount of $3,123.36, which was later returned due to insufficient funds.

Investigators determined that multiple attempts by the victim to contact Cornmire regarding the payment were unsuccessful.
