Pine bush man arrested for possession of obscene material involving children

On May 15, 2025, the New York State Police arrested Mark Sturdevant, age 57, of Pine Bush, NY, following an investigation into the possession of child sexual exploitation materials.

Sturdevant is charged with the following:

Possessing an Obscene Sexual Performance by a Child Less than 16 Years of Age, a Class E Felony

The investigation revealed that Sturdevant was in possession of images and videos depicting the sexual exploitation of children, some as young as six years old. The arrest follows a proactive investigation conducted by the Troop F Computer Crimes Unit, in coordination with the Troop F Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) in Middletown, the Troop F Community Stabilization Unit, and the Troop F Violent Gang and Narcotic Enforcement Team.

A search warrant was executed at Sturdevant’s residence in Pine Bush on May 15, 2025, leading to the discovery of the illegal materials.
