Pedestrian struck by vehicle died in New Hyde Park

Police reported a male, 50 year old died after being struck by a vehicle in New Hyde Park. It happened last night around 11:45pm on Jericho Turnpike and Cherry Lane. The driver, a 20 year old male of Garden City has been charged with DWI. The victim of Huntington died at the local hospital around 1am. The driver is waiting for arraignment at the local court. The incident was reported on the eastbound when the vehicle, gray colored 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee struck the victim. The investigation continues.
