Pedestrian struck by vehicle dead in Hempstead

Police reported a fatal auto accident involving a pedestrian on June 11 at 11pm in Hempstead. According to detectives, while attempting to cross Peninsula Blvd. on foot at the intersection of Washington Street, a male Hispanic, who has yet to be identified, was struck by a 2011 Toyota Camry that was traveling north on Peninsula Blvd. and was being operated by a 34 year old male. A second vehicle, a 2012 Nissan Murano, that was in the adjacent lane on Peninsula Blvd., being operated by a 54 year old female, immediately following the first collision, also struck the pedestrian who was on the ground. Both operators remained at the scene for police arrival. The pedestrian, who suffered multiple trauma injuries, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Ongoing investigation.
