Pedestrian killed in motor vehicle crash in Bay Shore

Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a pedestrian in Bay Shore last night.

Raymond Ohara was driving a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado eastbound on Howells Road when the vehicle struck a pedestrian in the roadway at the intersection of Manatuck Boulevard at 7:58 p.m.

The pedestrian, a 33-year-old man whose name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore where he was pronounced dead. Ohara, 54, of Bay Shore, was not injured. The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.
