Paseo Park is coming along nicely in Jackson Heights

The Open Street on 34th Avenue from the Brooklyn Queens Expressway to Junction Blvd to make it permanent is in progress.

The 26 blocks in Jackson Heights was proposed as a walk only area during the pandemic. Then in 2021, petitions were collected to make it permanent and since then it's on track to become a reality despite some mounting oppositions from locals.

The two nonprofit organizations, WXY and Alliance for Paseo Park funded by taxpayers, have released several renderings of the modern area with trees, bike lanes, strolling and sitting areas.

The NYC Dept of Transportation will hear from the public this month of the latest developments.

The plan outlines three different blocks with school, passive and active for all to be involved with designs.

Once the community approves, the next step is planning which will be submitted to the environmental board to analyze.

Then RFP for construction. Then so so so which will take at least 5 to 10 years to complete.
