Paladino edge Avella for the council seat

For the District 19 covering Bayside and Whitestone vicinity, Vickie Paladino beat Tony Avella by 387 votes. Paladino is the fourth Republican in the NYC Council won this year. This means Queens has 2 GOP. The other is Joann Ariola for District 32. 50th Council District in Staten Island is David Carr. Inna Vernikov won the 48th District covering Brighton Beach, Manhattan Beach, Sheepshead Bay and Homecrest. Two more seats were close calls for the GOP but lost which are also in Brooklyn. With Joe Borelli already in the council from Staten Island, there is now five GOP total.
